I am sure in the history of American Television Jericho is the only TV show which was brought back on the popular demand after being cancelled once only to be cancelled after seven episodes of the second season. If poor ratings were the real culprit, then what profitability do the producers fathom from the Jericho Movie or Jericho comics?

After CBS canceled Jericho TV Show in May 2007, fans began sending nuts to the network in reference to the shows final episode, in which the main character referenced the Battle of the Bulge when he answered “NUTS” to a request to surrender. Within three weeks over 8 million nuts had been shipped to CBS NY and CBS LA offices totaling over 40,000 pounds. Nina Tassler, president of CBS, sent out a memo on 6 June 2007 declaring that they had ordered seven more episodes to air within the year and requesting the fans to stop sending nuts…

In Germany the series suffered even a worse fate. It was canceled in after episode #14 “Heart of Winter” by Pro7.

Jericho TV Show was aired in Australia within a day of being aired in the US up until the mid-season break. After the break, Network Ten failed to return the show to air for around 2 months after the US. Anyways, I am writing this just in order to refresh my old good sweet memories of our own Jericho. In the first season of the series, we are shown the town of Jericho, which is destroyed after the nuclear attacks. In the beginning only we are told that the town is now isolated from all other nearby towns and is deprived of all modern amenities. So now we know that they are trying hard to survive and connect to the rest of the world. During their this time of hardship, various themes like that of community identity, public order, limited resources, the value of family and external threats are brought out in the series. Jake Green, the protagonist of the series, then takes the responsibility of protecting this shattered town and its people. He, together with the remaining residents of the town, fights and tries to adjust in this changed environment, not knowing that there are people among them who know much more about the attacks. Revolving around this theme of struggle for survival, Jericho became one of my favorite series. But, the sad part is that shortly after the series entered its second season, it was called cancelled. I wish I could get to see some more episodes of the series, which I know is near to impossible.
